Due to an obscure IE security issue (http://code.google.com/p/doctype-mirror/wiki/ArticleUtf7), you should always set it above the title>. --> title>The Truth About HTML5 (For Web Designers) by Luke Stevens/title> !--Hello and welcome to my markup!I imagine youre checking in here to see if I walk the HTML5 talk (I try to!); and what HTML5 actually looks like for a simple web page. (Answer: pretty similar!) Ive annotated my markup below which hopefully illustrates some of the themes of the book and what my research has revealed about some aspects of HTML5.Perhaps the most important aspect to keep in mind is that you will *not* find the new structural elements in this document. No section>, no article>, no nav>, and no aside>. These elements are nine-tenths useless and one-tenth harmful, and *everyone* gets them wrong, as I describe in chapters three and four. If you only take one thing away from the book, I hope its an appreciation for what a mess markup is in HTML5. (Thats not to say there isnt plenty of cool stuff in and around HTML5 though, especially whats being done with Canvas, and audio and video, which I cover later in the book.) So, you wont find those elements here. You will find some other cool stuff, like the ARIA landmarks main, banner, navigation, complementary and contentinfo (see the nav discussion below); and Schema.org markup (which I discuss in chapter five). Schema.org represents perhaps the biggest *potential* leap in semantics on the web in years, yet its mostly flown under the radar (and for good reason), so few people outside of the search optimization community are aware of it. Hopefully The Truth About HTML5 sheds some light on it for you. Theres also some neat demonstrations of Canvas which Ill discus
