In 2005, the store closed, but the building was far from being forgotten or abandoned; in fact, big changes have been afoot in order to give the Lazarus Building a second life. Window openings, long since filled in, have been reopened. The brick and terra cotta façade has been restored. Lazarus is looking like its old self again – except it now serves as a mixed-use space for offices, retail, artists’ studios, exhibitions, and restaurants. Plus, it’s “green”. This renovation project is LEED CS Gold certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. In fact, the Lazarus project is the first renovation project in central Ohio to achieve the LEED Gold rating.br>br>A LEED Gold rating means that the Lazarus renovation project achieved a high level of environmental sustainability in site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. More than 11,000 tons of concrete, steel, wood, glass, and other materials were recycled rather than going to a landfill. A “living” roof reduces summer heat buildup and slows water runoff. Low-flow plumbing fixtures, waterless urinals, and energy-efficient systems all reduce utility costs. Nontoxic paint, carpet, adhesives, and sealants help to improve indoor air quality.br>br>Although Lazarus has been reinvented, reminders of its heritage remain. The Lazarus name still graces the façade, and the landmark water tower now serves as an integral part of the rainwater collection system. Lazarus will continue to be part of Columbus’ urban fabric for years to come.div aligncenter> img srcphotos/home_photo.jpg>/div>div aligncenter> b>The Lazarus Building is proudly managed bybr>NAI Ohio Equities/b>/div> /td> td width274 valigntop stylepadding: 90px 0px 0px 8px;> div classlink_div> b stylecolor: #ffffff; font-size: 12pt;>Our Tenants/b> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.aiacolumbus.org/ classdiv_link target_blank>Center For Architecture And Design/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://chintzroomcolumbus.com/ classdiv_link target_blank>Chintz Room/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.downtowncolumbus.com/ classdiv_link target_blank>Columbus Downtown Development Corp./a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.columbus.org classdiv_link target_blank>Columbus Chamber of Commerce/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://econdev.columbus.gov classdiv_link target_blank>Columbus Economic Development/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.cupojoe.com/ classdiv_link target_blank>Cup O Joe/a> br>br> a hrefhttps://www.bankatfirst.com/ classdiv_link target_blank>First Financial Bank/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.franklincountyohio.gov/fc/ classdiv_link target_blank>Franklin County Economic Development/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.eds.com/ classdiv_link target_blank>Hewlett Packard/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.ohioequities.com/ classdiv_link target_blank>NAI Ohio Equities/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://das.ohio.gov classdiv_link target_blank>Ohio Dept. of Administrative Services/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.ohioinsurance.gov/ classdiv_link target_blank>Ohio Dept. of Insurance/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.medicaid.ohio.gov/ classdiv_link target_blank>Ohio Department of Medicaid/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://www.epa.state.oh.us/ classdiv_link target_blank>Ohio Environmental Protection Agency/a> br>br> a hrefhttp://uas.osu.edu/ classdiv_link target_blank>OSU Urban Arts Space/a> /div> /td> /tr> /table> /td> /tr> !-- content --> !-- footer --> tr> td height26 aligncenter valignmiddle classfooter> Copyright The Lazarus Building © 2009 /td> /tr> !-- footer --> /table>/body>/html>
