I went walking with Mom and Patrick again over lunchtime. They took me to some paths on Brook street near a pond and waterfall. Mom and Patrick sat there for a long time talking and enjoying the sun. I took the opportunity for a little TT meditation as the wind blew my fur back on my face. I sat still for a long time. Then we went on another path further down the road. There was a little pond with ducks that flew away when I ran up to them. I could smell horses and other animals and we saw a hawk fly down the path right in front of us. /p>p>There was a stream that crossed the path and the only way we could get over was to walk across a log. I was scared and nervous, but Mom called me and I DID IT! I didn’t even fall in! /p>p>On the way back almost to the road Mom noticed a funny bird flying ahead of us. She realized soon after that it was a BAT! I heard her say that bats out in the daytime are bad news. This thing was flying up and down the path and buzzed us 3 or 4 times. I was really glad I had my rabies shot at that moment! But I was really worried about Mom and Patrick. Mom put her hood up and walked faster to get out of the woods away from the crazy bat. Patrick picked up a big stick to Bat the Bat just in case it landed on us! I never saw my humans in such a hurry to get OUT of the woods 🙂/p>p>We got home just in time for me to greet the bus. I was so tired from exploring all those new smells that I crashed on the couch on my favorite blanket, while the rest of my family attended to their own stuff./p>p>I might just dream of bats tonight 😉 /p> /div> p classpostmetadata> Posted in a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/category/uncategorized/ relcategory tag>Uncategorized/a> | a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/2012/03/going-batty/#comments>23 Comments »/a>/p> /div> div classpost idpost-179> h2>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/2012/03/179/ relbookmark titlePermanent Link to Blogging>Blogging/a>/h2> small>March 7th, 2012 !-- by Jessie -->/small> div classentry> p>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/image-11.jpg>img loadinglazy srchttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/image-11-300x225.jpg alt titleimage (1) width300 height225 classalignleft size-medium wp-image-187 srcsethttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/image-11-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/image-11-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/image-11.jpg 1280w sizes(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px />/a>/p>p>What a nice day today. Mom and Patrick took me to Boyden Refuge for a long walk. We saw a bloodhound AND to my great surprise we met one of my kind!!! Another TT! She was black and white and her name was Ursa. Her coat was curlier than mine and she was a little bit bigger. She was cute! We hit it off and enjoyed our visit./p>p>Our new neighbors across the street moved in this past week. Now there are always people around. I am doing my best not to bark too much, but sometimes I just can’t help it! I am curious what they are all doing over there and why they don’t come pet me./p>p>Mom snuck a picture of me writing my blog with her cell phone… you can see it above./p>p>I am looking forward to spring. I can smell it in the dirt on our walks. Soon there will be peepers and osprey, and the juncos will go away… and the mosquitos will return…. yuck, I hate mosquitos, little heartworm vectors that they are!/p>p>There was a flock of red wing blackbirds and cowbirds hanging around my yard this week. I loved it when I asked to go out just so I could scare them away! I like the sound their wings make… whoosh… when they all take off together! Its almost like playing dominos for me 😉/p> /div> p classpostmetadata> Posted in a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/category/uncategorized/ relcategory tag>Uncategorized/a> | a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/2012/03/179/#comments>2 Comments »/a>/p> /div> div classpost idpost-159> h2>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/2012/01/walks/ relbookmark titlePermanent Link to Walks>Walks/a>/h2> small>January 30th, 2012 !-- by Jessie -->/small> div classentry> p>As I mentioned I spend a lot of time out in nature. Mom and Patrick are really nature nuts and love to walk no matter what the weather. So I get lots of exercise daily. My favorite places though are the different parks and woods near my house. It is always so much fun to get the scents of all the animals that have passed by. I have smelled deer, foxes, raccoons and I love to listen to the geese on the water.br />div idattachment_160 stylewidth: 310px classwp-caption alignleft>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/image_2.jpg>img aria-describedbycaption-attachment-160 loadinglazy srchttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/image_2-300x222.jpg alt titleimage_2 width300 height222 classsize-medium wp-image-160 srcsethttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/image_2-300x222.jpg 300w, https://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/image_2.jpg 800w sizes(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px />/a>p idcaption-attachment-160 classwp-caption-text>Me by the 3 mile river/p>/div>/p>p>Since the Lyme disease episode, Mom has thought it best that I have a new haircut. Life here is good. We go for lots of walks now and I have been hanging out by the river and at the parks. I had an active summer and was shocked to find out that I had contracted Lyme disease in spite of mom always putting that Frontline stuff on me. Dr. Mello discovered this at my routine physical when I was tested for heartworm also. I had to go on doxycycline for a month and it was icky. It made me not want to eat and if I took it without eating it made me throw up. I made it through treatment though and all is well. I was lucky, they caught it before I had any symptoms./p>p>I like going for walks. Santa brought me a great purple comfort harness, its so light and airy and helps the leash not pull on my neck. I love it! /p>p>Mom, since she doesn’t have the boys every weekend often takes me away with her. We spend time at her friends house. The first time I went with her, they went out to dinner. Mom trusted me to be a good girl and didn’t crate me. It was a strange place and I didn’t know when they were coming back and I freaked out. I ran and jumped up right through the screen of the window! I got out at the condo developement, it was a big scary area and found myself locked out after dark. When Mom came back 2 hours later she was shocked to see me running around near the woods. That was the most trouble I have ever caused in my life. Mom was glad I stayed away from the cars and stayed safe. We visit there often now and it is like my second home. I have adjusted to having neighbors so close and I know the rules of condo living now 🙂 I like to sit on the deck there and watch the birds, its a nice spot for my Tibetan meditation./p> /div> p classpostmetadata> Posted in a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/category/uncategorized/ relcategory tag>Uncategorized/a> | a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/2012/01/my-4th-year/#respond>No Comments »/a>/p> /div> div classpost idpost-140> h2>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/2011/04/year-of-change/ relbookmark titlePermanent Link to Year of Change>Year of Change/a>/h2> small>April 30th, 2011 !-- by Jessie -->/small> div classentry> p>div idattachment_141 stylewidth: 392px classwp-caption aligncenter>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/257673_1853245252372_1278008332_2663201_7791482_o.jpg>img aria-describedbycaption-attachment-141 loadinglazy srchttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/257673_1853245252372_1278008332_2663201_7791482_o-682x1024.jpg alt title257673_1853245252372_1278008332_2663201_7791482_o width682 height1024 classsize-large wp-image-141 srcsethttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/257673_1853245252372_1278008332_2663201_7791482_o-682x1024.jpg 682w, https://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/257673_1853245252372_1278008332_2663201_7791482_o-199x300.jpg 199w, https://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/257673_1853245252372_1278008332_2663201_7791482_o.jpg 1365w sizes(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px />/a>p idcaption-attachment-141 classwp-caption-text>Here I am at 3 years old /p>/div>br />2010 was a year of change for the whole family. Mom and Dad went their separate ways. I live with Mom and the boys now in a much smaller house. But it is cozy! I have adapted well to the changes and the additions. I am now completely trained to the electric fence. I like it better because I can see EVERYTHING going on in our new neighborhood AND I get to run around the entire yard, not just the back! There are neighbors here who walk every day and I don’t mind the man, but when the lady walks I have to announce that to everyone! I think it might be something in her footsteps that annoys me./p>p>The other big change was the addition of finches and ferrets. I have a cage with 4 zebra finches and Murphy and Bailey the ferrets. They play with me and I am really gentle and try hard not to hurt them when we play. /p>div idattachment_163 stylewidth: 1034px classwp-caption aligncenter>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/20110131-IMG_0279.jpg>img aria-describedbycaption-attachment-163 loadinglazy srchttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/20110131-IMG_0279-1024x682.jpg alt title20110131-IMG_0279 width1024 height682 classsize-large wp-image-163 srcsethttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/20110131-IMG_0279-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/20110131-IMG_0279-300x200.jpg 300w sizes(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px />/a>p idcaption-attachment-163 classwp-caption-text>Me and Murphy and Bailey playing/p>/div>div idattachment_172 stylewidth: 288px classwp-caption aligncenter>a hrefhttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/293501_2079607551288_1278008332_2904167_1968400527_n4.jpg>img aria-describedbycaption-attachment-172 loadinglazy srchttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/293501_2079607551288_1278008332_2904167_1968400527_n4-278x300.jpg alt title293501_2079607551288_1278008332_2904167_1968400527_n width278 height300 classsize-medium wp-image-172 srcsethttps://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/293501_2079607551288_1278008332_2904167_1968400527_n4-278x300.jpg 278w, https://www.jessiespeaks.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/293501_2079607551288_1278008332_2904167_1968400527_n4.jpg 668w sizes(max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px />/a>p idcaption-attachment-172 classwp-caption-text>My Job 🙂/p>/div>p>I spend my days laying in the sun on my oldest boy’s bed. I have many interests at 2. I enjoy spending time with my family, often on the go. I love meeting new people and new animals. I LOVE my cat Dexter. We have a thing. It’s a little unnatural, but we get along. He grooms me and we snuggle. Love the one you’re with right?br />I have many toys, stuffed birds are my favorites. I still meditate out in my backyard and after 2 years of trying, I still have not gotten a taste of that squirrel I race down the fence line every morning!br />Every day is fun though, I love the fresh air and sunshine in my back yard.
