This wonderful, licensed, home-based program was created by two experienced teachers with a vision for a preschool that honors each child as he or she is led in purposeful activity, given plenty of space for play and exploration, and encouraged and assisted in building healthy relationships. With a mixed age-group of children from 3 months to 6 years old we are more than daycare. Our days are filled with music, magical stories, quality art materials, wholesome, unprocessed foods, rich sensory experiences, furry friends, and plenty of patience and love. We are located in Lafayette, Colorado; easily accessible to families in Boulder, Louisville, Superior, Erie, Longmont, Broomfield and Westminster./p> p> /p> p classtext-center>a classbtn btn-primary btn-lg hrefimages/Cottontail Nursery School Application.pdf rolebutton>Download Application/a>a classbtn btn-primary btn-lg hrefimages/Cottontail Nursery School Handbook.pdf rolebutton>Download Handbook/a>/p> /div> /div> /div> /div> /header> section idabout> div classcontainer> div classrow> div classcol-lg-12 mb-4 mt-2 text-center> h2>About Us/h2> /div> /div> /div> div classcontainer > div classrow> div classcol-lg-4 col-md-6 col-sm-12 text-center> img classrounded-circle alt140x140 stylewidth: 140px; height: 140px; srcimages/rachelbaier_02.png data-holder-renderedtrue> h3>Rachel Baier/h3> p>Rachel is a Colorado native with a BA from Kenyon College in Art and Art History, and an MA in Educational Psychology from CU. In 2022 she made her way to Cottontail and continues to make great connections with the teachers and families. After working in many different childcare settings, Edie enjoys the Cottontail classroom, in part, because of its inclusion of different philosophies, materials and the families wants and needs. /p> /div> div classcol-lg-4 col-md-6 col-sm-12 text-center> img classrounded-circle alt140x140 stylewidth: 140px; height: 140px; srcimages/cindyrosssmith_02.png data-holder-renderedtrue> h3>Cyndi Ross-Smith/h3> p>Cyndi has an Associates Degree as well as a Certificate in Waldorf Early Childhood Education. Therefore, we make a point of spending time each day outdoors, regardless of weather. Nature holds a wealth of appropriate sensory stimulation, and there is ever so much to discover! On our play yard we will work in the garden (planting, watering and harvesting), play in our large, shady sandbox, participate in water play on hot days, jump in piles of leaves on Autumn days and build snowmen on snowy days. We may go out and fly a kite at the park across the street, or even build a bonfire in our fire-pit at a festival. As a Waldorf influenced program, and conscientious adults we hope to foster a love and reverence for nature and the Earth. /p>/div> div classcol-sm-6 col-lg-4> h3>Nutrition/h3> p> Meals at Cottontail Nursery School are a beautiful and simple affair. The children are involved in the preparation of the food, kneading dough, measuring ingredients, pouring, stirring and even chopping fruits and vegetables as they are able. We feed the children organic, minimally processed ingredients, of whole grains, protein and seasonal fruits and vegetables. At mealtime we will sit together at the table, light a candle and sing a song of thanks to the Earth. Children staying until 12:30 will have one hearty morning snack, and a little nibble at the end of the day. Children staying until 3:30 will also be given lunch and a snack after rest. /p>/div> div classcol-sm-6 col-lg-4> h3>Music/h3> p> Both Miss Rachel and Miss Liz have musical backgrounds and find joy in sharing music with the children. In fact, music is a very important part of our daily rhythm and curriculum. Songs carry us through transitions, fill our circles with the changing seasons, and help build community within our group. Music also helps us hold the childrens attention for longer stretches during our stories, and during meals, and is a tactic we use for positively redirecting energy. We will never play recorded music for the children, but we may pull out our instruments and sing, dance and play games. We will occasionally post videos and sheet music on our blog if you want to learn some of our songs to sing with your child at home./p>/div> /div> /div>--> /section> section idcalendar> div classcontainer> div classrow> div classcol-lg-12 mb-4 mt-2 text-center> h2>School Calendar/h2> /div> /div> /div> div classcontainer> div classrow> div classcol-lg-4 col-md-6 col-sm-12 text-center> h3>2024/h3> p> strong>June 3–28 –/strong> Summer Camp Session 1br> strong>July 8-August 2 –/strong> Summer Camp Session 2br> strong>August 17 –/strong> Back to School Picnic 10:30-11:30br> strong>August 19 –/strong> First Day of Schoolbr> strong>September 1 –/strong> First Tuition payment duebr> strong>September 2 –/strong> Labor Day strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>September 17 –/strong> Parent Evening 5:30-6:30 - Cottontail Schoolbr> strong>September 27 –/strong> Michaelmas - In class dragon festivalbr> strong>October 31 –/strong> Halloween - All school parade strong>HALF DAY - PICKUP AT 12:15/strong>br> strong>November 11 –/strong> Veterans Day strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>November 22 –/strong> Lantern Walk - 5:30-6:00 Cottontail Schoolbr> strong>November 25-29 –/strong> Thanksgiving Break strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>November 24-25 –/strong> Parent Teacher Conferences strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>December 20 –/strong> Winter Solstice Spiral Garden strong>BEGINS AT 11:30/strong>br> strong>December 23-January 7 –/strong> Winter Break strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>/p> /div> div classcol-lg-4 col-md-6 col-sm-12 text-center> h3>2025/h3> p>strong>January 8 –/strong> School Resumesbr> strong>January 20 –/strong> Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>February 5 –/strong> Parent Evening 5:30-7:00 strong>COTTONTAIL SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>February 17 –/strong> President’s Day strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>March 24-28 –/strong> Spring Break strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>April 18 & 21 –/strong> Parent/Teacher Conferences strong>NO SCHOOL/strong>br> strong>May 22 –/strong> Last Day of School - All School Celebration 11:30 strong>HALF DAY/strong>br> strong>June 2–27 –/strong> Summer Camp Session 1 strong>2025/strong>br> strong>July 7-August 1 –/strong> Summer Camp Session 2 strong>2025/strong>br>/p> /div> /div> /div> /section> section idtuition> div classcontainer> div classrow> div classcol-lg-12 mb-4 mt-2 text-center> h2>Tuition/h2> /div> /div> /div> div classcontainer> p classtext-center>a classbtn btn-primary btn-lg hrefimages/Tuition 2024-2025.pdf rolebutton>Download Tuition Information/a>/p> /div> /section> section idcontact> div classcontainer> div classrow> div classcol-lg-12 mb-4 mt-2 text-center> h2>Contact Us/h2> /div> /div> /div> h5 classtext-center>a hrefmailto:info@cottontailschool.com?SubjectSchool%20Information%20Request target_top>info@cottontailschool.com/a> (Preferred)/h5> h5 classtext-center>546 Arbor Drive, Lafayette, CO, 80026/h5> h6 classtext-center>(303) 847-9413/h6> /section> !--footer classtext-center> div classcontainer> div classrow> div classcol-12> p>Cottontail Schoolbr />546 Arbor Drive, Lafayette, CO, 80026br />(303) 944-7776/p> /div> /div> /div> /footer>--> !-- jQuery (necessary for Bootstraps JavaScript plugins) --> script srcjs/jquery-3.2.1.min.js>/script> !-- Include all compiled plugins (below), or include individual files as needed --> script srcjs/popper.min.js>/script> script srcjs/bootstrap-4.0.0.js>/script> /body>/html>
