For this project, our interest was lying mainly between differences of perception and language shifts between a generally accepted conception of what an abstract painting is (a non-figurative work of art that wishes to resist interpretation – an aura and a context that transcends the work of art) and a mode of interpretation that tries to be generic, objective and absolute. Deep Learning type algorithms are algorithms that attempt to replicate the human learning process. They are generally precise when it comes to “figurative” images (to detect human faces) and can generate sentences with an advanced syntax level. For a so-called “abstract” image, it is quite different; results can be more thought of like a guessing game, or a form of pareidolia (the phenomenon of somebody perceiving identifiable forms out of random shapes, i.e. cloud evoking objects). Pour ce projet, notre intérêt résidait principalement entre les différences de perception et de langage entre une conception généralement admise de ce qu’est une peinture abstraite (une œuvre d’art non figurative qui veut résister à l’interprétation – une œuvre d’art ayant un aura et un contexte qui la transcende) et un mode d’interprétation qui se veut générique, objectif, et absolu. Les algorithmes de type Deep Learning sont des algorithmes qui tentent de répliquer le processus d’apprentissage humain. Ils sont généralement précis en ce qui a trait à des images dites figuratives (détecter des visages humains) et peuvent générer des phrases comportant un niveau de syntaxe avancé. Pour une image dite abstraite, il en est tout autre ; les résultats s’apparente plutôt à un jeu de devinettes, ou une forme de paréidolie (où quelqu’un perçoit, à partir de formes vagues, des objets ou formes humaines identifiable, i.e. voir des objets dans des nuages). Its massive base makes it really resistant to deformation, stretching and compression. The font is great for short texts such as poetry and named due to the proportion between caps and lowercase. It is also lovely when used in funny contexts with alternative glyphs sur as cash and money. Wrong end up being great when set either very large or very small. The wide and Xtra Wide version are still under construction. For this project, our interest was lying mainly between differences of perception and language shifts between a generally accepted conception of what an abstract painting is (a non-figurative work of art that wishes to resist interpretation – an aura and a context that transcends the work of art) and a mode of interpretation that tries to be generic, objective and absolute. Deep Learning type algorithms are algorithms that attempt to replicate the human learning process. They are generally precise when it comes to “figurative” images (to detect human faces) and can generate sentences with an advanced syntax level. For a so-called “abstract” image, it is quite different; results can be more thought of like a guessing game, or a form of pareidolia (the phenomenon of somebody perceiving identifiable forms out of random shapes, i.e. cloud evoking objects).
