McCoy, a former train repair technician, began excavating with his father-in-laws company, Fred Gibson Excavating. After gaining valuable experience from his father-in-law, in 1957, Fred began working alone as Fred W. McCoy Excavating.Br /> br />Established as a family business, the company originated from a small metal building located on the McCoy family farm in Delaware, Ohio. Fred bought the companys first machine in 1959 (pictured). Putting in long hours, from dawn to dusk, Fred worked with utility companies and general contractors, to install sewer and waterlines, in and around Central Ohio.Br /> br />A boom in commercial and industrial development occurred in the Columbus area in the early 1970s. Freds son Craig joined McCoy Excavating, working part-time while taking business courses at Franklin University. Together, Fred and Craig moved the business to its current warehouse/office on Hosack Street in Columbus.Br /> br />Due to health problems, Fred closed the business for one summer to recuperate. It was during that summer, while working for a local Columbus tapping contractor, that Craig recognized an opportunity to expand McCoy Excavating, Inc. to include pressure pipe tapping services. In 1985, Fred sold McCoy Excavating, Inc. to Craig. Fred worked along side Craig for four more years, training and sharing his engineering and consulting expertise. Fred passed away in 1994. Interested in further expanding the pressure pipe tapping business, Craig added hot tap and line stop services to McCoys existing line of excavating services, in the 1990s.Br /> br />Introducing McCoy Piping Services, a division of McCoy Excavating, Inc. The same experienced and dependable team of McCoy technicians now provide high-quality piping services.Br /> br /> /div> /div> !--End bodyWrapper-->div classclear25>/div>div classsubBodyWrapper> div classsubBodyContainer> div classsubTitle>img srcassets/subTitleCustomerTestimonials.jpg altsubTitleCustomerTestimonials width700 height32/>/div> div classtestimonialsContainer> div classtestimonialsBlock>I have worked in and around this industry for more than 20 years.
