Also, I can repair that dusty art car that the auto shops wont touch. /LI>LI> Professional Art Car Driver - With a Class A CDL, Im prepared to drive a mutant vehicle of any size at the event of your choice, remaining sober while you can party with peace of mind. I can provide 10 years of accident-free DMV records and am well-versed in repair and maintenance for those unexpected breakdowns./LI>LI> Custom Human-Powered Vehicles and Bicycles - Ive devoted a lifetime to understanding what it takes to make a vehicle human-powered. It has no living quarters, but rather a commercial kitchen to serve 50-100 campers, cold food storage, electrical distribution, showers, a cooled lounge area, greywater management, and 1200 gallons of drinking water storage. A deck slides in to double the cargo capacity for storage to the event, and the whole thing operates off-the-grid with generator power, propane fuel, and its own drinking water supply with greywater management.p>UL>B>Advantages Of A Semi Trailer/b>p>LI>Roomy- as big as it gets. A larger kitchen than some urban eateries. Can haul your entire camps stuff to the event./LI>LI>Anonymous- Doesnt look like anything valuable is inside to steal. Doesnt look like a freaky-deaky hippie bus just begging to be pulled over./LI>LI>Surprisingly cheap to store- Yard prices are low because most fleets are buying in bulk. Sometimes as low as $20/month compared to RV storage./LI>LI>Always Gets There- Unlike a cook trailer you tow, you dont have to rely on your own truck to get it there. The commercial carrier ensures the delivery- even if the guy breaks down, they just send another truck. No spending your festival week in Nixon on the phone trying to get a tow to Reno while your camp goes without a kitchen./LI>/UL>p>THE RESULT: Available custom-made to your needs or for rent.div styleclear:both; padding-bottom:0.25em>/div>p classblogger-labels>Labels: a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/fabricate.html>fabricate/a>/p> /div> /div> !-- End .post -->!-- Begin .post --> div classpost> h3 classpost-title> Alloy Motors /h3> div classpost-body> p> p>div styleclear:both;>/div>img srcshoptruck.jpg width95%>p>p>THE CLIENT: Alloy Motors Oaklandp>THE PROBLEM: Startup genius needs Man Fridayp>P>THE SOLUTION: Two-time successful entrepreneur Geoff Gates was starting his third company, a hot rod shop in West Oakland. During the first year of a companys existence, work can be a dynamic experience. I joined Alloy Motors as employee #1. People often come to me because they dont know who to whom to turn. The vehicle was elegantly made but lacked a certain ergonomic element that only my extensive human-power experience could provide. I fabricated a steering system, a shade structure, and added a differential to the axle while improving the driveline. The vehicle was also given a once-over for safety, eliminating places where fingers could get pinched or clothing snagged. The client also asked for a giant, 10-ft shadow sculpture of a bicycle which I provided.p>THE RESULT: Successp>p>img srcshadow.jpg width95%>div styleclear:both; padding-bottom:0.25em>/div>p classblogger-labels>Labels: a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/media.html>mutant vehicle/a>, a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/fabricate.html>fabricate/a>, a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/bikes.html>bikes/a>/p>a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/festival.html>festival/a>/p>/p> /div> /div> !-- End .post -->!-- Begin .post --> div classpost> h3 classpost-title> Coachellas Robot T-Rex /h3> div classpost-body> p> p>div styleclear:both;>/div>img srctrex.jpg width95% aligncenter>p>p>THE CLIENT: Coachella Music Festivalp>THE PROBLEM: Life-sized can-eating robotic T-Rex is behind schedulep>p>Johnny Amerika was in trouble. The first year I designed and operated the worlds first pedal-powered bumper cars. For the second year, I wanted to express aspects of Australian culture in my work. I acquired various pieces of metal that are important to Australians, such as a bowls mower, a lawnmower leaf catcher, a barbie, a tea kettle, and various farm equipment. I added to this the legend of the infamous bushranger Ned Kelly and created NED 3000, a robot chopper outlaw burn barrel.br />img srchttp://non.primate.net/chopper/bb2t.JPG width95% aligncenter>div styleclear:both; padding-bottom:0.25em>/div>p classblogger-labels>Labels: a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/fabricate.html>fabricate/a>, a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/festival.html>festival/a>/p>/p> /div> a hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/2009/03/corinbank-2009.html titlepermanent link>Permalink/a> span classitem-control blog-admin pid-1090927471>a styleborder:none; hrefhttp://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID7635764433317168389&postID2418096920218308136 titleEdit Post>img classicon-action alt srchttp://www.blogger.com:80/img/icon18_edit_allbkg.gif height18 width18>/a>/span> /p> /div> !-- End .post --> !-- Begin #comments --> !-- End #comments --> !-- Begin .post --> div classpost>a name7473539535950841513>/a> h3 classpost-title> Pedal-powered Crane /h3> div classpost-body> p>div styleclear:both;>/div>a hrefhttp://non.primate.net/chopper/crane1.jpg>img srchttp://non.primate.net/chopper/crane1t.jpg border0>/a>br />br />THE CLIENT: Redmoon Theatre, Chicagop>p>THE PROBLEM: Design and build a pedal-powered crane for the Summer 2006 Spectacle i>Twilight Orchard/i>p>THE SOLUTION: A simple rule for a crane is that the weight on the end times the ratio of the boom to the counterweights length equals the weight of the counterweight. The original design called for an 800 lb. counterweight which would support 50 lbs at the end of a 16 foot boom. Consequently this vehicle was extremely overbuilt, with ATV wheels, a differential, and a gear ratio that would allow a single person to move that kind of weight.br />br />img srchttp://non.primate.net/chopper/crane5t.jpg width400>br />I had to fabricate my own axle stub brackets.br />img srchttp://non.primate.net/chopper/crane4t.jpg width400>br />br />The vehicle was dressed by other designers and audio techs, and Laura Annis built the boom. The crane was equipped with a speaker on the end for a private party and then used to hang a disco ball for span stylefont-style:italic;>Twilight Orchard/span>- in typical Redmoon style this allows the techs to be seen by the audience and perform their job with whimsical gadgetry. Heres a picture of it loading a mouse into a giant mouse wheel during span stylefont-style:italic;>Looptopia 2007/span>:br />img srchttp://non.primate.net/chopper/crane6.jpg width400>br />br />This project represents a particular combination of form and function that I always strive for and am quite proud of in this creation.div styleclear:both; padding-bottom:0.25em>/div>p classblogger-labels>Labels: a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/bikes.html>bikes/a>, a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/fabricate.html>fabricate/a>, a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/steampunk.html>steampunk/a>, a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/theatrical.html>theatrical/a>, a reltag hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/labels/mutant.html>mutant vehicle/a>/p>/p> /div> a hrefhttp://www.johnnypayphone.net/2008/06/pedal-powered-crane.html titlepermanent link>Permalink/a> span classitem-control blog-admin pid-1090927471>a styleborder:none; hrefhttp://www.blogger.com/post-edit.g?blogID7635764433317168389&postID7473539535950841513 titleEdit Post>img classicon-action alt srchttp://www.blogger.com:80/img/icon18_edit_allbkg.gif height18 width18>/a>/span> /p> /div> !-- End .post --> !-- Begin #comments --> !-- End #comments --> /div> !-- Begin #footer :: bottom area --> div idfooter> p> !-- Copyright © 2004 Your name (plus any additional footer info) --> /p> /div> /div> /div> !-- End #main-content --> !-- Bottom Paper Graphic --> div idmain-bot>/div> /div>script typetext/javascript srchttp://www.blogger.com/static/v1/common/js/2110372966-csitaillib.js>/script>script>if (typeof(window.attachCsiOnload) ! undefined && window.attachCsiOnload ! null) { window.attachCsiOnload(ext_blogspot); }/script>/body>/html>
