However, in many places canned sardines that are em>bishul Yisroel/em> (cooked by a Jew) are not available. There is a em>machlokes haposkim/em> (a debate among em>poskim)/em> whether canned sardines fall under the prohibition of em>bishul goyim/em> (cooked by a non-Jew). The consensus is that the prohibition does not apply to sardines. If we ascertain that the canned sardines are kosher and that no non-kosher fish, nor other non-kosher ingredients, have been added (according to many em>poskim/em>, this might require the presence of a em>mashgiach temidi/em> during the entire processing), we may eat them—even if they are not em>bishul Yisroel/em>. In fact, it is known that many great em>tzadikim/em> ate sardines that were not em>bishul Yisroel/em>. Among the reasons for this is that sardines are not food that is fit to be served at a royal table, and certainly not canned ones. However, according to many em>poskim/em>, this leniency does not apply to tuna and other fish. #289sup>?1/sup>/p>/p> !-- Trigger the modal with a button --> small styletext-align: right;>i>a hrefhttps://halacha2go.com?number289>https://halacha2go.com?number289/a>/i>/small> br>br>button typebutton classbtn btn-info btn-lg video-btn data-togglemodal data-srchttps://halacha2go.com/php/h2go/images/videos/download/289.mp4 data-target#myModal>Video #289/button> !-- Trigger the modal with a button --> button typebutton classbtn btn-info btn-lg data-togglemodal data-target#mmModal289>מראי מקומות/button> !-- Modal --> div classmodal fade idmmModal289 roledialog> div classmodal-dialog> !-- Modal content--> div classmodal-content> div classmodal-header> button typebutton classclose data-dismissmodal>×/button> h4 classmodal-title>מראי מקומות/h4> /div> div classmodal-body> p>p> /p>p dirrtl>sup>1 /sup>הנה כמה פרטים בדבר: חשש תערובת דג טמא, תערובת שמן טמא, בישול גוים וכו׳./p>p dirrtl>ואמנם, בשו״ת לבושי מרדכי במהדו״ב סקמ״ח העד העיד בנו שכן נהגו כמה גאוני ארץ צדיקים ז״ל לאוכלו ולא חששו לשום דבר.
