Next on the list is Redux, Tailwind and Vue.js... /p> p> My last role was situated within the DevOps space at a classanchor-text hrefhttps://www.cgi.com/en target_blank >CGI/a >, but my favourite work lies in the intersection between development and design. I swiftly moved on as testing didnt light my fire. CGIs flexibility allowed me to try out various roles over the years. My most recent role was Lead Application Engineer on a project related to criminal justice, which I performed alongside completion of my degree. I specialised in deployment and continuous delivery, utilising modern tools like Azure and Docker, and enhanced my skills in Linux and Windows environments, making use of modern and legacy systems. I also managed service and incidents using tools like ServiceNow and Jira. /p> div classtag-container> div classtag> p>Deployment/p> /div> div classtag> p>Azure/p> /div> div classtag> p>Docker/p> /div> div classtag> p>Linux/p> /div> div classtag> p>Windows/p> /div> div classtag> p>VMs/p> /div> div classtag> p>WebLogic/p> /div> div classtag> p>ServiceNow/p> /div> div classtag> p>Jira/p> /div> div classtag> p>Agile/p> /div> div classtag cert> p>AWS/p> /div> div classtag cert> p>ISTQB/p> /div> /div> /div> /div> div classexperience-card> p classtenure>2021-2023/p> div classcard-column> a hrefhttps://www.winchester.ac.uk/ target_blank > h3 classcard-header anchor-text> BSc Digital & Technical Solutions (Software Engineering) ⋅ University of Winchester /h3> /a> p> Enrolled onto the Degree Apprenticeship at CGI which I completed over 2 years, alongside my day job. University was a great way for me to combine technical knowledge and practical application; I was able to consolidate some of my university learning at work, securing solid fundamentals in various aspects of Software Engineering. The course also gave me exposure and hands-on experience with other areas of Software Engineering that I didnt get the chance to explore in my CGI role. This included a variety of development practices in a range of languages, such as Java, JavaScript and Python, as well as UI/UX design and networking. After a grueling a classanchor-text href#uni-project >final project/a >, I completed my BSc with 1st Class Honours. /p> div classtag-container> div classtag> p>JavaScript/p> /div> div classtag> p>HTML/CSS/p> /div> div classtag> p>Java/p> /div> div classtag> p>Python/p> /div> div classtag> p>SQL/p> /div> div classtag> p>UI/UX Design/p> /div> div classtag> p>User Research/p> /div> div classtag> p>Figma/p> /div> div classtag> p>Data/p> /div> div classtag> p>Networks/p> /div> /div> /div> /div> /div> a classproject-archive-link href./public/george-cv.pdf target_blank > p> View Full CV span classright-arrow >i classfa-solid fa-arrow-right>/i >/span> /p> /a> /section> section idprojects-section> div classsticky-header> h2 classlight-text>Projects/h2> /div> div classproject-contents> div classproject-card idlondon-bike-prototype> div classcard-column> a classproject-archive-link hrefhttps://github.com/georgemarsh1809/london-bike-prototype target_blank > h3 classcard-header> London City Bikes ⋅ Insights Platform span classright-arrow >i classfa-solid fa-arrow-right>/i >/span> /h3> /a> p> My most recent project was a data visualisation platform that provides meaningful and actionable insights into a public dataset of 83 million bike rides with the Santander London City Bike Scheme. I designed the User Interface in Figma, implemented the Front-End in React.js, designed the different widgets and graphs on the platform following the narrative of Sustainable Travel, utilised GenAI for complex SQL query generation and utility script generation, and then built the bridge between the interface and the data with FastAPI. I learned an awful lot with this project and really honed by React skills, as well as built up my tech stack by using FastAPI for the first time. /p> a classanchor-text project-link hrefhttps://github.com/georgemarsh1809/london-bike-prototype target_blank > i classfa-brands fa-github>/i> p>View the GitHub Repo/p> /a> div classtag-container> div classtag> p>React.js/p> /div> div classtag> p>FastAPI/p> /div> div classtag> p>Python/p> /div> div classtag> p>Zustand/p> /div> div classtag> p>BigQuery/p> /div> div classtag> p>GCP/p> /div> div classtag> p>Data Insights/p> /div> /div> /div> div classproject-image-container> img src./public/london-bikes.png altLondon Bikes Data Thumbnail /> /div> /div> div classproject-card> div classcard-column> a classproject-archive-link hrefhttps://github.com/georgemarsh1809/ChessDataVisualiser target_blank > h3 classcard-header> Chess Data Visualiser span classright-arrow >i classfa-solid fa-arrow-right>/i >/span> /h3> /a> p> Its no secret that my biggest hobby outside of coding is Chess, so of course, I had to find a way to link the two. After finding a public dataset of 25,000 games from the 12 best players of all time, I decided to take on the challenge of building a Data Visualisation tool, that uses the range of data fields to create insightful graphs. After I loaded the dataset into a Postgres database, built out a Front-End with React, and connected them with Express, the application now has 2 tabs; a Dashboard for viewing the graphs, and a Data tab for viewing the individual games and moves. This has been by far the most challenging but also rewarding project of mine to date. Ive learned a lot, and my coding confidence has improved tenfold. /p> a classanchor-text project-link hrefhttps://github.com/georgemarsh1809/ChessDataVisualiser target_blank > i classfa-brands fa-github>/i> p>View the GitHub Repo/p> /a> div classtag-container> div classtag> p>React.js/p> /div> div classtag> p>Express/p> /div> div classtag> p>CSS/p> /div> div classtag> p>Postgres/p> /div> div classtag> p>Zustand/p> /div> div classtag> p>3-Tier/p> /div> /div> /div> div classproject-image-container> img src./public/chessdataviz.png altChessDataViz Thumbnail /> /div> /div> div classproject-card iduni-project> div classcard-column> a classproject-archive-link hrefhttps://cgicrisisconnect.netlify.app/ target_blank > h3 classcard-header> CrisisConnect ⋅ Communication Tool span classright-arrow >i classfa-solid fa-arrow-right>/i >/span> /h3> /a> p> For my dissertation project at university, I was tasked with finding a real-life problem within my company and building a solution prototype to solve the business need. My manager at the time highlighted the multi-layered and inefficient communication chain during high-priority incidents, between user and engineer. CrisisConnect is a web-based communication tool, built with React.js and styled with ChakraUI, designed to streamline the communication chain and foster more effective communication between the end-user and the engineer during live incidents. The application makes use of Googles Firebase database capabilities to store messages and accounts, and provide a smooth authentication process. /p> a classanchor-text project-link hrefhttps://github.com/georgemarsh1809/cgi-chat-tool target_blank > i classfa-brands fa-github>/i> p>View the GitHub Repo/p> /a> div classtag-container> div classtag> p>React/p> /div> div classtag> p>Firebase/p> /div> div classtag> p>ChakraUI/p> /div> div classtag> p>Full-Stack/p> /div> div classtag> p>Figma/p> /div> div classtag> p>User Research/p> /div> /div> /div> div classproject-image-container> img src./public/crisisConnect.png altCrisisConnect Thumbnail /> /div> /div> div classproject-card> div classcard-column> a classproject-archive-link hrefhttps://github.com/georgemarsh1809/ChessSystem target_blank > h3 classanchor-text card-header> Chess Library System ⋅ Full-Stack Java Application span classright-arrow >i classfa-solid fa-arrow-right>/i >/span> /h3> /a> p> As part of my Object Oriented Programming University module, I was tasked to design and build a library system in any coding language, but specifically utilising the OOP paradigm. Since Im a super Chess nerd, I decided to build a Java system that allowed users to create an account, and rent Chess equipment (boards, pieces, clocks etc.). I designed the UI/UX in Figma, and built the system from scratch using pure OOP (one of my favourite ways to code) and MySQL Server. /p> a classanchor-text project-link hrefhttps://github.com/georgemarsh1809/ChessSystem/ target_blank > i classfa-brands fa-github>/i> p>View the GitHub Repo/p> /a> div classtag-container> div classtag> p>Java/p> /div> div classtag> p>OOP/p> /div> div classtag> p>UI/UX/p> /div> div classtag> p>Figma/p> /div> div classtag> p>MySQL Server/p> /div> /div> /div> div classproject-image-container> img src./public/ChessLibrarySystem.png altChessLibrarySystem Thumbnail /> /div> /div> /div> a classproject-archive-link hrefhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?vdQw4w9WgXcQ target_blank > p> View Full Project Archive span classright-arrow >i classfa-solid fa-arrow-right>/i >/span> /p> /a> /section> /main> footer> p classfooter-text> Coded in a hrefhttps://code.visualstudio.com/ target_blank classanchor-text >Visual Studio Code/a > by yours truly. br />Built with pure HTML and CSS, deployed with AWS. br />All text is set in the a hrefhttps://rsms.me/inter/ target_blank classanchor-text >Inter/a > typeface. /p> a classscroll-to-top href#top-of-page> i classfa-solid fa-angle-up>/i> /a> /footer> /body>/html>
