The DEIS documents the need for transportation solutions for I-290 from west of Mannheim Road to Racine Avenue and the evaluation of alternatives for addressing those transportation needs. Further, it addresses the potential effects on environmental resources and the potential effects on future traffic operations caused by proposed alternatives as well as the “no-build” alternative. The findings from the CTA’s Blue Line Vision Study were also presented. A public Notice of Availability (NOA) will be issued on December 30, 2016. The NOA begins the 45 day public review and comment period. br>br>The public hearings were conducted in an open house format, and interested persons may attend anytime between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Attendees had the opportunity to view a continuous audiovisual presentation and exhibits as well as encouraged to comment on the DEIS, alternatives under consideration, preliminary road closure plan, social, economic, and environmental effects and proposed mitigation strategies.
