Information on most Cherokee Indians is contained in the Dawes Rolls. This information is all handwritten by registration numbers and on family cards. It is not at all easy to research. I have traced the Sanders - Cowin side of our family tree back to the Indian Territory which is now part of North Carolina, all of Tennesse & Kentucky, and the southern most tip of Indiana. A good resource to understand our Cherokee heritage is The Trail of Tears. Our Cherokee ancestors were taken on this march into Oklahoma. We are very lucky that some of them survied or many of the branches on this tree would not be here today. Maude and I will be tracking some of that documentation in the early spring and later summer 2006.BR>p>I would like to have any stories, bios or memories that you have concerning our
