During this workshop you will also learn the history of bannock and leave with a recipe so you can make it at home!\n\nThis workshop is limited to 100 people and a waitlist will be created for additional registrants.\n\nEarl:\n\nEarl was born and raised in Manitoba. Earl is of Cree, Sioux and Métis descent. His cultural teachings are predominantly from his Cree Elders. Earl has worked in the social service field for over 25 years and has been teaching at the University of Northern BC since 2002. Earl has been appointed as an adjunct Professor for Anthropology and First Nations. He has an Interdisciplinary M.A. in First Nations, Education and Anthropology and a B.A.( Double Major) in Anthropology and First Nation Studies. He has also completed a Pre – BSW Diploma, and a Métis Studies certificate.\n\nEarls previous work experience includes positions on boards of aboriginal health and Housing Societies, Federal Parole Board, Friendship centres and numerous non-profit societies. His consulting work includes Bands, Tribal Councils, MCFD Youth Custody and various Urban Aboriginal services.\n\nThe work with PGYCS included Sweat Lodge, Pipe Ceremonies, Talking Circles, one-on-one work with Métis youth, as well as actively planning future cultural programming for youth. Earls focus is introducing youth to culture and promoting health and wellness (“Culture is Healing”).\n\nDeryl:\n\nDeryl was born and raised in Prince George. She is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family roots are in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Deryls son is a Nazko band member from the Southern Dakelh Territory. She has had cultural teachings from both the Cree and Dakelh people. She has also worked in the Social Services field for over 25 years. Deryl recently retired as a case manager in Mental Health and Addictions with Northern Health. She has a Pre-BSW diploma, Addictions Counselling certificate.\n\nDeryls work history includes local and provincial Foster Parent associations and steering committees for various youth projects. She has worked for Friendship centres, Community Associations and Residential Youth and Women’s programs.
